Religion is not only defined as the relationship between the Creator
and His creations but can also function as a basis for social action
in the form of religious philanthropic movements and be applied
through various humanitarian activities. This paper aims to
explain that humanitarian social movements can be carried out by
institutions initiated and based on religious principles. The purpose
of these institutions is to distribute aid and strive to improve the
living standards of marginalized groups or the poor. In its concept,
the welfare of the poor is not sufficient merely by providing economic
assistance in the form of charity; it must be complemented with
long-term programs such as education, health, skills training, and
program monitoring. Therefore, religious philanthropy has an active
role in providing universal public services without discrimination
between individuals.
